The border posts responsible for import health controls (imports arriving from countries outside the European Union) operate as part of a department with a nationwide remit directly answerable to DGAL: SIVEP (department of veterinary and phytosanitary border control) the official address of which is: sivep.sdasei.dgal@agriculture.gouv.fr
An introduction to SIVEP:
• Border Control Posts (BIP) responsible for checks on imports of products of animal origin and live animals.
• Designated Points of Entry (DPE) responsible for checks on imports of animal feedstuffs of non-animal origin.
• Community Points of Entry (CPE) responsible for phytosanitary checks on imports of plants and plant products.
