The French platform for epidemiological surveillance in animal health by and for those involved in animal health

Animal diseases are a potential threat to public health, the economy and the environment

Monitoring animal health and particularly the emergence of new infectious agents in the country is a key step in preventing health risks. It is an essential component of any policy aimed at preventing and combating diseases. A detailed review of national health and safety policy was launched during the French National consultation on the health sector (Etats généraux du sanitaire) in January 2010 and resulted in the creation of the French platform for epidemiological surveillance in animal health (ESA Platform) at the end of 2011. The ESA Platform is coordinated by ANSES (the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety) and the French Ministry of Agriculture (Directorate General for Food, DGAL). It is composed of six full members: laboratories (ADILVA, ANSES), livestock organisations (Coop de France, GDS France), the DGAL, vets organisation (SNGTV) and two associate. members, FNC and ONCFS.
